    Leisure & Recreation

The Greater Taichung area boasts one of Taiwan's best selections for leisure and recreational options, thanks to its ideal central-Taiwan location near both the mountains and sea. Taichung City itself has the highest number of parks per capita of any city in Taiwan, from the island's largest metropolitan park to a lush "green belt" that runs throught the downtown area. Also within city limits is the DaKen Scenic Area, boasting huge expanses of rolling forested hills that draw visitors with a number of attractions, from a hiking trail network to hot springs.

Taichung is also well-equipped with facilities for various athletic pursuits. This includes a number of excellent private golf clubs, public basketball courts, soccer fields, and stadiums for professional baseball games, running and other sports.
