Taekwondo Team of Stanford University Stanford University visited Mayor Hu(2007-08-06) |

On the morning of Aug. 6th, the Taekwondo Team of Stanford University, led by head coach Tim Chormley, visited Mayor Hu who was accompanied by Principal Su of National Taiwan College for Physical Education, and both sides discussed athletic exchanges. The Mayor praised the students, saying that while he knew about the high IQ’s of students from Stanford University, he had not been informed of their fine kung fu performances, and expected the visit to introduce better intercommunication.
In the exchange program between National Taiwan College for Physical Education and Stanford University, Taiwan sent students to Stanford this February and Stanford University sent its Taekwondo Team to Taichung from July 21st to Aug. 7th, as the model path for physical education exchanges between the two countries.
On the day before leaving Taiwan, the Taekwondo Team, accompanied by Principal Su arrived to call on the Mayor, who conducted intercommunication for athletic promotion. Teammates showed interest in posters exhibited in the VIP Room of the City Hall, especially the one of the Mayor dressed as Pavarotti, wearing boxing protectors, and with a black eye circle drawn on the picture. The reasons provided by the Mayor caused all to laugh.
According to Mayor Hu, Stanford's undeniably smart and distinguished students could conduct fine kung fu performances beyond his imagination. He thus looked forward to more intercommunication to raise athletic levels in both countries. |
