With the support of the mayor and the council, the Taichung Fire Bureau was officially established on Jan. 17th 1999.
Under the Bureau Chief, there is the Vice Bureau Chief and the Secretary. There are many departments in the Fire Department: the Disaster Department, the Rescue Department, the Emergency First Aid Department, the Education Training Department, the Investigation Department, the Administration Department, the Accountants Department, the Personnel Department, the Commission Department, the Maintainance Department and the Rescue & First Aid Command Center.
The Fire Squad is divided into two squads. Each squad is in charge of several different branches throughout Taichung City. The Xitun Branch, Nantun Branch, Beitun Branch, Liming Branch, Shuinan Branch, Shiping Branch, Chunshe Branch and Siehe Branch are all under the First Squad. The Dacheng Branch, Zhong Gang Branch, Wun Chang Branch, Sin Yi Branch, Central District Branch and Chin Gong Branch are under the Second Quad.
